At Enigin it is great to see an Enigin Distributor turn up for their training as they start out in their new energy saving businesses.

So You Want to be a Business Guru

posted by steve in Business Advice

By Steve Hill

When Enigin Distributors start out in their own energy saving business they have dreams of becoming business leaders and Enigin are happy to help them to achieve this goal - but they also learn that there is more important things on life than just work and business.

Top performing entrepreneurs and business gurus add to their fame and fortune through publicity, books and speaking tours, amongst other strategies, but they rarely tell all.

They all talk about the need for vision, how to handle all sorts of people, how to face challenges and seeming disasters plus loads of other valuable stuff that are the ingredients and cliches of the corporate speaking circuit.

To reach top though sacrifices are required and the choice as to whether to make those sacrifices is left to each individual - a middle ground will suffice for most and shouldn’t be knocked. There is more to happiness than a great balance sheet.

Why is such a great sacrifice needed, consider some of the points you often do not hear business guru admit to:

Stop Those Office Distractions

posted by steve in Business Advice

By Steve Hill

The Enigin office buzzes with highly interactive people.

Enigin’s technical bods, creatives, marketing men, web developers, Pas, and Directors, plus they are always interrupting me — generally for valid work reasons but sometimes just to chat.

For whatever reason they are welcome but they’re distracting, and their needs are often a far lower priority than what I need to work on at that precise moment.

What Difference Do Enigin Make?

posted by Enigin in Business Advice, General
Now here’s a question I take great pleasure in answering personally! Being a company that specialises in energy efficiency, what difference can Enigin make in terms of saving energy and reducing the business world’s impact on the environment?

The planet’s natural resources are diminishing at a mind-boggling speed, and the consumption of energy, generally in excess, contributes to polluting the Earth. As far as statistical facts go, one must know that businesses account for no less than 30% of the global carbon emissions! A massive third of the CO2 emissions leading to the greenhouse effect is directly due to business activity.

Is the Website Dead for Enigin plc?

posted by steve in Business Advice

AT Enigin PLC we rely on many websites, including this one, to communicate to our Enigin Distributors.
Whether we wish to launch the new Enigin Eniscope Hub to Enigin Distributors or the wider public, provide information on Enigin Training at the Enigin UK HQ we use our websites.

It would be possible to just rely on Enigin PLC social networking accounts. We can let people know about the new Enigin Eniscope Hub, or Enigin Training at Enigin UK through Facebook or Twitter.

So is the website dead, or are its days numbered?

We all have bad days - when nothing seems to go right, when we are chasing our tails all day, when personal stresses impact into our work hours and so many things to interfere with our plans and aims. It can be very depressing.

Even at a positive place like Enigin we get bad days when what we hope to achieve certain goals we don’t make it and have to pick ourselves up and carry on the next day. We can do that because we relaise we need to look at something afresh.

Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project, provides some tips, and not just two or three, that can helps us to cope and regain happiness and balance. On her blog she offers 12 ways to deal with a terrible day (and sometimes you need all the help you can get.)

How to handle common interview questions

posted by steve in Business Advice

When a new position becomes available at Enigin we get a variety of candidates in for interview - some are very good at the interview, others leave a lot to be desired. So here some advice if you are facing an interview, at Enigin opr elsewhere.

If you are smart, you have already studied up on how to be great in an interview. You know what to wear, how to walk, and you studied the answers to the common questions. There are three questions, however, that are so obvious, so common that most people never think to study for them.
